SEASON 1 - Ep.10 What’s Bitcoin?
Hi and welcome back to NoKiddingNews. I’m Bruno, and I’m here to keep you informed but also engaged.
Let’s start today’s episode with a simple question. If one of my aunts and uncles had decided to give me £1 in Bitcoin on the day I was born, guess what it would be worth today, ten years later? A jaw-dropping, shop-stopping, unbelievable £230,000!
After THAT, I bet you want to hear more about Bitcoin. What is it? How does it work? What are the risks?
First, the basics: Bitcoin is a digital currency. But what is a currency, you ask? And what does it mean that it’s digital?
A currency is a storage of value. Think about £5 note. It’s just a bit of plastic with some pretty pictures on it, but you accept it as payment because you know that you can trade that piece of plastic for goods in the future and other people will accept it too.
A currency, in the end, is a convention. Most modern currencies have no other value except for the backing of a government. These are called “legal tender”, which means that all prices have to be stated in that currency in a given country and people must accept it. In the past, old currency was backed by gold, but that is a loooong story which we can talk about another time.
And what does it mean that it’s “digital’? Well, digital currency means that it’s only available in digital or electronic form, not physical. Also, Bitcoin specifically is not backed by any government.
Let’s go to our guest Zac who has done some pretty amazing research for us …So Zac can you tell us where Bitcoin comes from and why it’s so valuable?

Hi and welcome back to NoKiddingNews. I’m Bruno, and I’m here to keep you informed but also engaged.
Over the next two weeks, we’re going to be looking at one of the most topical issues of our time: climate change. This week, we’ll introduce the topic and explain the steps some governments around the globe are taking to protect our environment. Next week, we’ll talk about what industries, companies and individuals can do to help.
Climate change has been a topic of discussion for several decades. But there are still people out there who don’t believe it’s real. Scientists now say that we’re coming close to the point of no return, and lots of people are pushing for their governments to take action.
This week, we’re joined by our guest Lorenzo, who is passionate about the subject and will help us understand it better. Lorenzo, welcome. Let’s start with some basics: what is climate change?...
SEASON 1 - Ep.07 Social Media - How do algorithms work?
Hello and welcome back to NoKiddingNews. You should know the drill by now…
(drumroll sound) I’m Bruno, and I’m here to keep you informed but also engaged .. NOKIDDING !!
Last week we started talking about social media. The benefits, downsides and the way software companies have made US the product. This week we’re going to discuss about one of the worst side-effects of social media - FAKE NEWS! As we said in our last podcast fake news travels 6 time faster then authentic ones .. no kidding !!!
Fake news means different things to different people, but today we’re defining it as news stories which are false. Either the story itself is made up, or it has no verifiable facts, sources or quotes. It can take any form, from an article to a tweet … so how do fake news stories get to people and why do we believe them?
Well, it all comes down to the algorithms! Our first guest today has done some research for us .. welcome Timur, what can you tell us about an algorithms and how do they affect what we see on our social media accounts?
An algorithm is a set of instructions designed to perform a specific task…
SEASON 1 - Ep.06 The Social Dilemma
Hi, Happy New Year and welcome back to NoKiddingNews 🥳. Now you might be thinking, Happy New Year? It’s February, Bruno! But I’m talking about Chinese New Year - Happy year of the Ox to you all! To those who don’t know already, I’m Bruno, and I’m here to keep you informed but also engaged.
Depending on your point of view, social media is either one of the greatest inventions ever, or one of the worst parts of modern technology. No matter which side you’re on, social media is a HUGE part of daily life.
Social media has many benefits, some of which have become more obvious during the pandemic. It’s helped people to communicate easily over long distances, it’s made all knowledge accessible at the click of a button, and sadly, it’s allowed families to say goodbye to their loved ones. Some people have found common ground with others, joining groups of people who share hobbies and interests, like music and football. It’s allowed kids to keep up with our education and friends, even when schools had to close last year – and here we are again! E-Learning until at least 8th of March!
So, with all these amazing perks that come from social media, why are some people so concerned?
SEASON 1 - Ep.05 Pfizer vs Astrazeneca
As the last podcast of 2020 we thought we’d cover the major topic of the year - (the new Fifa 21) - Just kidding Guys, It’s COVID, of course!
The virus has been in the news from all the way back in January when the pandemic started in China. It quickly made its way around the world and we ended up with the strangest year of our lives.
Lockdowns, masks, no school (still not sure if that was good or bad!), more hand gel than you could shake and of course, the daily briefings which took over our TVs every night for months. But there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel…
Luckily, we will all be able to get a vaccine for COVID pretty soon as the first few people have already received it. So in this episode, we will be answering the following questions:
1. What is a vaccine?
2. How did we get a COVID-19 vaccine?
3. And who is going to get it first?
SEASON 1 - Ep.04 Hammersmith Bridge call for action
👋 Hi and welcome back to NoKiddingNews. I’m Bruno, and I’m here to keep you informed but also engaged.
Last time, we talked about Hammersmith Bridge, which has been causing chaos for thousands of Londoners over the past two years. We heard from three schoolchildren who told us how they faced long hours in cars and buses just to get to school.
But my teachers always tell me I can’t just complain about problems. I have to try and come up with solutions too! This episode, we’ll be doing just that.
So why don’t we hear some of the solutions which have been proposed?
Our candidates, in no particular order, are:
- Contestant Number One is the fabulous Foster & Partners – an architectural firm who recently revealed a radical plan to create a double decker crossing on top of the current bridge
- Our second contestant is Beckett Rankine – an engineering firm with a family history dating back to WW2. Their plan is to save the day by building a temporary bridge alongside Hammersmith Bridge
- Contestant Number Three are… the ferries! There are a few possible places to dock, so the ferry solution seems the simplest. But will it work out in practice?
SEASON 1 - Ep.03 London Bridge is falling down!
🦅 US Presidential Election Explained to Kids – Kids and Family Podcast. Results, interviews, and future scenarios about US Presidential Elections 2020.
In the last episode, we talked about the US presidential debates between Joe Biden and President Donald Trump. Debates don't necessarily have a winner, but elections DO. Trump went on Twitter and claimed that he won big time, however by Saturday the 7th of November Biden has been announced the president-elect.
This means that on January the 20th 2021 he will be the big boss in the oval office with a big saying in what happens in the world for the next four years.
The media announced that he had won by a couple of million votes.
Leaders from France, Germany, Israel, England, and many other nations called and tweeted to congratulate him on his victory.
There's just one problem: Trump is refusing to admit that he lost!
Usually, the outgoing president would pass the baton to the president-elect to ensure a smooth transition.
Not in this case…

SEASON 1 - Ep.01 Donald Trump vs JoeBiden. Who will win? Who will fall?
US Presidential Election explained to kids!
👋 Hello, my name is Bruno.
Since this is the first episode, I want to give you some key facts about me. Ten years ago, I was born in San Francisco, USA to two Italian parents and now I live in London. For as long as I can remember, I've loved knowing what happens in the world around me, but I hate the boring complicated old-fashioned way that the newscasters and podcast presenters usually talk and talk and talk...
So I promise to keep you informed but also engaged!
Since I started my life in the USA I thought our podcast should start there too.
This year's hottest topic aside from something that rhymes with “Schmovid19” is the presidential election on the 3rd of November. Who will win, who will fall, how many controversies can Trump cause this week?
No idea? Me neither, so let's get back to the basics.
Drumroll, please!..
